The Author's Story
My husband and I knew having a kid would rock our world, we just didn't realize it would rock everyone else's as well. To set the stage, our first baby was born and three days later our local Costco sold out of toilet paper.
Becoming a mom at the very beginning of a worldwide pandemic was a strange and scary experience. In the early days, we didn't know COVID (I don't even think it had a name yet) wasn't impacting children as severely as it was older people. We just knew everything and everybody was shutting down.
As memes about erasing 2020 started to flood the internet, I couldn't help but feel sad envisioning all the babies eventually finding out how much everyone hates their birth year. So, I wanted to give them something that celebrates the strange realities they were born into—and hopefully makes them and their parents laugh.
I wrote down my ideas and called my incredibly talented friend from my college comedy troupe who agreed to illustrate it. I never imagined that nearly two years later we'd still be in the middle of all the chaos. But here we are, with two more years of "pandas" entering our strange new world, and I'm finally ready to share my vision with all of you. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
"We look like other babies but have superpowers that set us apart."

"I wanted to tell you how wonderful it is! The story is funny and delightful and the illustrations are fantastic — they really add more depth and humor to your words. And those baby photos at the end of the book! They warmed my heart and made me happy.
I love your book so much. I had originally thought I was going to send it to my friend’s granddaughter but I can’t bear to part with it, so I’m going to your website to order another copy for her. You should be so proud of this wonderful book."
