About

The birth of our first child coincidentally sparked a worldwide pandemic. As a result, my sister Tiffany started calling her a panda. I thought it was a cute nickname for babies born during this crazy time.

As the pandemic raged on, so did people's attitudes towards the 2020s. As I thought about my baby growing up and realizing how much people hate the year she was born, I wanted to give her and her peers something to celebrate their unique birth years.

I started brainstorming all the quirky skills they were likely developing, then created the story. I called my most talented friend who agreed to illustrate it and We Are Pandas was born.

It was really important to me that it was printed locally, so I didn't even want to try to go the traditional publishers route where you don't have much of a say in anything. Instead, we set up a Kickstarter and through the generous backing of family, friends, and beautiful souls from around the world, it funded.

We Are Pandas is our little gift to all the parents that are raising babies during this historic time and to all the babies that lighten up the darkest days.

"I got the book today and I just wanted to send a quick email to say thank you. I read the whole thing through tears and bawled at the end. I have called [my baby] my little light in the darkness ever since he was born. I just needed you to know how much your book has touched my heart. Thank you again."
